The first tragic love story in history
The legend of Isis and Osiris is one of the oldest romantic tragedies in history
The story begins with Osiris, the just ruler of Egypt, and his people loved him dearly, because he taught his people the love of benevolence and spread justice and a decent life during his reign. Which aroused the jealousy of his brother Set and planted hatred in his heart, so Set wanted to get rid of his brother Osiris, so he thought of a plot to kill his brother and take the throne of ruling Egypt.
Isis was the sister of Osiris, when he grew up, Osiris married his sister Isis, a custom that was followed by the pharaohs, Isis and Osiris had other brothers, Seth and Nephthys, who were also married to each other.
Because of Set's intense jealousy of his brother, set killed his brother Osiris. He prepared golden coffins studded with diamonds exactly the size of Osiris, and prepared a large feast in which he invited many people, and deluded them that he prepared this coffin to give it to anyone who fits his size. In the sarcophagus specially made for him, set sealed the coffin with the help of his assistants, tied it, and threw it into the Nile River, so the river swept it to the"Mediterranean", which was carried by its waves to" Phenicia" (present-day Lebanon), then the waves threw it to the coast of "Thaghar Jbeil". A and soon a huge tree grew above the coffin that kept it from the eyes.
And there was in that city a beautiful queen, the goddess "Astarte", who went out to the beach for exercise, and when she saw the tree, she ordered to cut it down and erect a huge pillar from its trunk in the middle of her palace.
And when Isis learned of her husband's fate while she was in Egypt, she looked for him everywhere, and grief overtook her, so she cried with tears. Whenever tears fell from her eyes in abundance they fell into the Nile, mixing with its water, and overflowing.
The pharaohs believed that the tears of "Isis" were the cause of the flooding of the Nile, and finally Isis made evidence for the place where Osiris had thrown her. Isis during that period had taken the image of the eagle - the symbol of life - and went around her husband's body and took to whisper his soul, then the miracle happened, as carried by the spirit Without human contact. She carried the child "Horus" in her womb and fled with him in the jungles of the Delta until he grew up and fought evil and avenged his father and saved humanity from the evils of his uncle set, so the Egyptians at that time called him the Savior God.
The queen wanted to reward Isis, so she asked her about her intention, so she asked her for the tree trunk that contained her husband, and she gave it to her and took the coffin out of it, and she carried it gladly, then put it in a ship and sailed it to Egypt. There she lay on the dead body of her husband, and breathed in it with the help of some gods, and returned to the dead life, and then Osiris rose after that to heaven and ascended the throne in the other factor.
Isis was grateful to everyone who helped her, but no one could return Osiris to her. He will live forever in the land of the dead, and will live forever in the land of the living. Isis knew that she would never see her beloved husband again..
